Minted by the British Royal Mint, the Britannia is considered one of the world's most beautiful bullion coins. Following the success of the gold Britannia introduced in 1987, the Royal Mint in1997 decided to produce an one ounce silver Britannia coin. Britannia is a personification of Great Britain and is symbolized as a young woman with golden hair, wearing a helmet and white robes. She holds a trident and a shield.
