Minted by the Engelhard Mint in the United States, the Engelhard Prospector was one of the first one-ounce bullion rounds to be minted and marketed to the public. These Prospector rounds are very popular and are the preferred one-ounce silver round. They are not legal tender and trade very near the spot price for silver. The obverse image is of a prospector panning, oddly enough, for gold. Silver, unlike gold, is not found in alluvial deposits. The reverse portrays the Engelhard logo. | ||
